Engineering students gain access to student portal

Thursday, January 15, 2015

Portal is launching in the Faculty of Engineering this month. All students in Engineering programs, both undergraduate and graduate, will receive an email invitation to access the student portal starting this month.

This new mobile-friendly communication tool delivers the UWaterloo information students need, just when they need it. The portal pulls relevant academic, career and social information from campus resources to deliver customized information to each student. It currently provides everything from real-time computer lab and parking spot availability and needed textbooks, to faculty and department events and daily specials in campus food outlets, plus much more. Time-sensitive messages generated by Registrar’s Office, Graduate Studies Office and Student Accounts also remind students about important deadlines.

Over time, more content will be added and student developers will be able to create their own content for the portal. As the portal continues to evolve, staff will be allowed to post messages to targeted groups, to help reduce the volume of email students receive from the university.

To ensure the portal continues to perform well with an increase in users, Engineering students will be added in groups, starting the week of January 12, 2015.

All students will receive an email invitation from the Student Success Office when it is their turn to access the portal. By mid-February all students in Engineering and Architecture programs will have access to the student portal.

Any questions can be directed to the student portal team.
