Sanaz Saadatmand Hashemi, a systems design engineering doctoral candidate, is one of four recipients across campus of this year’s Amit and Meena Chakma Awards for Exceptional Teaching by a Student.
A teaching assistant for a number of engineering courses, Hashemi is described as approachable, conscientious, well-organized, understanding, and
“Sanaz’s efforts, approachable nature and supportive attitude made the course and its content that much easier to absorb,” said one of her undergraduate students.
The Amit & Meena Chakma Awards for Exceptional Teaching by a Student were established through a donation by Amit Chakma, the University of Waterloo's vice president academic and provost from 2001 to 2009, and his wife Menna to recognize and promote teaching excellence by graduate students at Waterloo.
