Students present at international architecture conference

Wednesday, July 10, 2024

Three teams of Waterloo Architecture undergraduate students presented papers at the 2024 Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) conference.

The students were the only undergraduates to have papers accepted at the conference, and they received recognition for engaging in research at this early stage of their academic journey.

This year's ACSA conference was hosted by the School of Architecture, Art and Design of Tecnológico de Monterrey, in partnership with Asociación de Instituciones de Enseñanza de la Arquitectura. The international summit addressed the intersecting inflection points of environmental and social trends, innovative forms of practice, and artificial intelligence.

The three papers presented by Waterloo students were focused using nature as inspiration for the development of climate-adaptive facade systems for architectural applications. The research was developed during as part of Biomimetic Design Lab option, under the supervision of
David Correa.
