College applicants

This page covers admission requirements for students currently or previously enrolled in a college program.

Admission requirements and procedures vary so determine your applicant type based on your current academic status.

How to apply

All college applicants submit their applications through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all supporting documents, including high school and college transcripts are submitted by the stated deadlines.  Some colleges may be equipped to transmit transcripts electronically, and others may require the submission of hard copy documents by mail.  Please consult with your college administration for more details.

Check out our admissions timeline and deadlines page.

Course requirements

If you are applying from a college diploma program, you will only be considered for admission to first year. You must have strong grades in the required Grade 12 courses within the past 2 years. Pre-university preparation from the Grade 12 courses is essential for success in our program. If you are taking college courses that are equivalent to required Grade 12 (university-level) courses, these courses may be used to refresh your Grade 12 course grades.  You may submit course descriptions along with your transcripts for consideration in your application.

Required subjects taken three or more years ago may no longer qualify for admission, and students may be asked to refresh these courses.  Review our Ontario high school requirements

Although admission is primarily based on recent performance in the required subjects, you should have strong overall performance at college to confirm your abilities at the post-secondary level.  A minimum college average of “B” is required for admission.

University transfer programs

Students from approved university transfer programs should review our requirements for university applicants.  University transfer students should also contact the Engineering Admissions Office for further guidance.

Other requirements

All applicants to engineering programs will be asked to submit a personal profile, called the Admission Information Form (AIF).

Applicants to Software Engineering are also required to have experience developing well-structured, modular programs.  Learn more about our required programming experience.

If your first language is not English, you may need to meet our English language requirements.
