been selected as the 2015 recipient of the IEEE Canada A.G.L. McNaughton Gold Medal.

Established in 1969, the McNaughton Gold Medal is IEEE Canada's highest honour and is awarded to outstanding Canadian engineers recognized for their exemplary contributions to the engineering profession.

Kamel is a University Research Chair and the director of the University's  Centre for Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
