This page covers admission requirements for students without post-secondary experience who have been away from high school studies for three or more years.

How to apply
All mature applicants submit their applications through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all supporting documents, including past transcripts and current high school grades are submitted by the stated deadlines. Please consult with your past and current school administrators for more details.

Course requirements
Admission to Engineering programs is based on the required Ontario Grade 12 U courses (or equivalents). You may need to update required courses that you completed more than two years ago. The required courses include:
- Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
- Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U)
- Chemistry (SCH4U)
- Physics (SPH4U)
- English (ENG4U)
English (ENG4U) can be more than two years old. In-progress or final grades in the required subjects are needed by the document deadline. Mature candidates are considered with all other applicants, and must present competitive grades. Review our required admission averages.
Obtaining required courses
There are a number of methods for obtaining the required subjects including:
- Correspondence courses through an approved online school, such as Independent Learning Centre (Ontario residents only), or Canada e-School.
- Full-time or part-time enrolment at an adult education centre or regular day school in your community.
Mature candidates are encouraged to contact the Engineering Admissions Office for further guidance on course selection.
Other requirements
All applicants to engineering programs will be asked to submit a personal profile, called the Admission Information Form (AIF).
Applicants to Software Engineering are also required to have experience developing well-structured, modular programs. Learn more about our required programming experience.
