Kitchener-based healthtech startup FluidAI Medical announced that it has raised $15 million in Series A funding to drive growth in AI-driven healthcare solutions.

FluidAI (formerly NERv Technology) was co-founded in 2014 by Waterloo Engineering alumni Youssef Helwa (BASc ‘15, nanotechnology engineering; MASc ‘18, electrical and computer engineering) and Amr Abdelgawad (BASc ‘16, nanotechnology engineering; MBET ‘17, business, entrepreneurship and technology).

The company will use the funding to expand its business into existing and new international markets by introducing AI-driven healthcare solutions that address postoperative complications.

"This funding not only validates our vision but also fuels our mission,” said Helwa, CEO at FluidAI in a media release.

“Our goal is to continuously push the boundaries of what's possible in postoperative care, ensuring patients recover safely and quickly. With the trust and support of our investors, we're poised to make a monumental impact on how data informs care decisions"

The funding round was led by SOSV and Graphene Ventures with participation from Boutique Venture Partners, Threshold Impact, Cur8 Capital, Leva Capital, Kyto Technology & Life Science Inc., Juno Pharmaceuticals, and a number of esteemed angels, funds and government funding organizations.
