The 2014 IBM Conference Best Technology Showcase Award was recently awarded to three electrical and computer engineers for their work entitled A Dynamic Markov Game for Decision Making in Self-Protecting Software.
Mahsa Emami-Taba, a PhD student, Mehdi Amoui, a postdoctoral fellow, and Ladan Tahvildari, an ECE professor, were honoured for their work at CASCON 2014, the 24th International Conference hosted by the Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) Research, IBM Canada Software Laboratory.
Emami-Taba and Amoui are members of ECE's Software Technologies Applied Research (STAR) laboratory, which is led by Tahvildari. STAR’s goal is to design and implement new methodologies and tools to develop higher quality and cost effective software systems.
The Waterloo engineers' winning entry looked at the complicated and dynamic application-layer attacks that are a major threat to software systems these days.
