Campus celebration of life for young alum to be held October 5

A memorial service will be held at the University of Waterloo on October 5 to remember Phil Everson who graduated from management engineering in 2017.

Everson, 26, died suddenly at the Ottawa Army Run on September 22.

Originally from Cornwall, ON, he was vice-president of education for Goose Chase, a Waterloo software company that allows users to organize their own scavenger hunts.

Organizers of Everson’s campus memorial remember him as dedicating “his time and energy to many efforts on campus including: Velocity/Concept Campus Coaching, Federation Orientation Committee, Entrepreneurship Society, Management Engineering Community, Entrepreneur in Residence, UW IEE Conference, Engineering Society, Teaching Assistant Varsity Cross Country team, TEDX UW speaker and many others.

He played a leadership role in all of these, always solving problems that arose with grace while enabling people to perform at their best.”

The celebration of Everson’s “beautiful life” will be held October 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the second floor of South Campus Hall.   Dress code is casual.
