Waterloo Engineering scored well in the 2013 QS rankings moving to second place in Canada, up from fourth last year. The ranking of 46, up from 57 in 2012, marks the first time the Faculty has moved ahead of the University of British Columbia and McGill University in these rankings.
Published by UK firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the rankings in the institutional category place the University of Waterloo 180 in the world and seventh in Canada, up from 191 and ninth a year ago. Other Waterloo Faculties, including Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences & Management, have also moved higher.
QS ranks close to 700 universities worldwide in 30 disciplines.
"This wonderful news follows close on the heels of the Shanghai Rankings that ranked Waterloo No. 43 in Engineering & Technology in August," said Pearl Sullivan, Dean of Waterloo Engineering. "Rankings like these reflect the endorsement of our academic programs by employers worldwide and the quality of our research."
