Xuemin (Sherman) Shen, an electrical and computer engineering professor, has been recognized with the 2019 Award of Merit from the Federation of Chinese Professionals Ontario (FCCP) Education Foundation.
The annual award is presented annually to recognize distinguished Chinese Canadians with outstanding achievements in their own fields.
Shen, awarded the prestigious "University Professor" designation by the University of Waterloo in 2017, specializes in wireless communications and networks.
Xuemin (Sherman) Shen has been recognized with this year's Award of Merit from the Federation of Chinese Professionals Ontario Education Foundation.
Shen is a fellow of many prestigious institutes, including the Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada, and IEEE. He received the Education Award from the IEEE Communications Society in 2017 and the Award of Excellence for Graduate Supervision from the University of Waterloo in 2006.
The FCCP Education Foundation was established in 1981 to promote the advancement of higher education. It funds more than 50 permanent scholarships and awards in over 13 Ontario universities and post-secondary institutions, as well as McGill University in Quebec.
