PhD student receives top honours for fuel cell research

Drew Higgins, a chemical engineering doctoral candidate, has been awarded the grand prize in the 2014 Dr. Bernard S. Baker Student Researcher Award for Fuel Cell Research. The purpose of the award is to encourage and recognize exceptional student research relating to fuel cell technologies.

Higgins, whose PhD supervisor is Zhongwei Chen, a chemical engineering professor, is researching the development of advanced nanostructured materials to improve the performance and durability of fuel cell technologies.

He will receive his award and give a presentation on his research activities at the Fuel Cell Seminar & Exposition taking place next month in Los Angeles, California.
