A Waterloo Engineering doctoral student has been appointed to the board of directors of a provincial not-for-profit that works to accelerate the transformation of post-secondary digital-by-design education in Ontario.
Redwan Siddiqui, a PhD student in the Department of Management Science and Engineering (Management of Technology stream), began his three-year term as a board director of eCampusOntario in April 2026. eCampusOntario provides platforms, programs and services to advance digital participation in post-secondary education by connecting Ontario’s institutions and learners to the future of learning and work. The University of Waterloo is among the 57 universities, colleges and Indigenous institutes that are members of the organization.
“I look forward to contributing to eCampusOntario’s mission by advancing inclusive, technology-enabled learning initiatives and strengthening connections between higher education and workforce development across Ontario," said Siddiqui. "Having studied and taught across Ontario’s college, polytechnic, and university sectors, I bring a unique perspective shaped by both student and faculty experiences.”
Siddiqui is pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Selcuk Onay, with research focused on behavioural decision-making theories in the context of human-AI interactions. Alongside his doctoral studies, he serves as vice-president of the Management Sciences Student Association (MSSA) and is a graduate student member of the University of Waterloo’s Human Research Ethics Board.
He also holds a contract teaching position in the Operations & Decision Sciences area at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business & Economics and is serving as program coordinator for the Supply Chain and Management Science and Case Studies divisions at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) conference, and chair of the Digital Technologies & Operations track at the North American Case Research Association (NACRA), both in 2026.
