Two Waterloo Engineering graduate students have earned a prestigious national award for their research in quantum imaging, highlighting the power of interdisciplinary collaboration.
Sarah Odinotski and Jack DeGooyer, PhD candidates in electrical and computer engineering and researchers at the Institute for Quantum Computing, have received Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships for their work on advanced imaging technology.
Their research as part of the Quantum Photonic Devices Laboratory focuses on developing a camera capable of detecting individual photons—an innovation with potential applications in medical diagnostics and beyond. By applying this technology to medical imaging, they aim to improve the detection of cancerous cells, leading to faster and more accurate diagnoses.
