Thursday, July 16, 2026

A University of Waterloo adjunct professor and staff member has been recognized on a national list celebrating some of the country's top rising engineering talent.

Dr. Brandon DeHart, manager of Waterloo's RoboHub, was among a group of rising Canadian engineers profiled in Design Engineering magazine's June 2026 feature, "Geared for Success," which highlights engineering professionals up to age 40 who are making their mark in the field.

DeHart holds a PhD in balance and gait for robotic bipeds and serves as an adjunct assistant professor in Waterloo's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Under his leadership, the RoboHub has grown from a small research group into one of the country's most advanced robotics facilities, with a fleet that includes walking, rolling, flying and magnetically levitated robots. DeHart also leads robotics development at Real Life Robotics, a Waterloo-based startup building autonomous delivery and service robots for public spaces.
