A young woman from India is now studying at Waterloo Engineering with $100,000 in backing from a national scholarship program.
Chidi Umenwofor-Nweze, one of 35 prestigious Loran Scholars for 2019, started the systems design engineering program with experience including a summer stint working for the territorial government in Nunavut.

Chidi Umenwofor-Nweze is using a $100,000 scholarship to study systems design engineering at Waterloo.
“Co-op was something that really attracted me,” Umenwofor-Nweze said of her decision to attend Waterloo, one of 25 partner universities across the country.
Winners of the four-year scholarships were chosen from more than 5,000 applicants based largely on character, commitment to community service and long-term leadership potential.
