Waterloo ranked among top 50 globally for engineering and technology

For the second consecutive year, the University of Waterloo has been ranked among the top 50 universities for academic achievement in the category of engineering/ technology and computer science according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

The ARWU, often referred to as the "Shanghai rankings", placed Waterloo at 43 in the world for engineering, and second in Canada within the same category. Waterloo has appeared among the top 200 universities overall globally for the past four years in this ranking, remaining in seventh place among the 23 Canadian institutions recognized. [Waterloo news release] [ARWU 2013: details and methodology]
