Meet Steph Smith!
Hi, I’m Steph. I work as a Development Officer at Waterloo Engineering and have been with the team for just over a year. My job is to build our alumni network and work with industry partners to support the Faculty, our students, and our research. I am also working now to build programming and supports for our recent alumni.
What is the most interesting part of your position? What is something that happens behind the scenes that not a lot of students may know?
Our incredible alumni are what make my job so great. They are passionate, accomplished and committed to supporting our current and future students in their studies and career goals. Our program would not be what it is today without our alumni and their continued involvement.
What do you love about working at Waterloo?
The team I work with at Waterloo is incredible. So supportive, innovative, and dedicated to ensuring our Faculty can continue to grow.
What would you tell your university self knowing what you know now?
To try new things and to network! Learning from other people’s career paths and asking questions has been such an important part of my career growth.
What are some of your favorite lockdown distractions?
Cooking up a storm, curling up with a good book and watching basically everything on Netflix.
