When your government calls on you to fight, what do you do? What if they won’t take no for an answer?
Theatre of the Beat, in partnership with Conrad Grebel University College, and Goshen College presents, Gadfly: Sam Steiner Dodges the Draft, the true story, activist and Goshen alumni, Sam Steiner. Set throughout 1960s Goshen and Chicago, the play tells the captivating true story of a Mennonite rebel, his underground newspaper, and the war that changed his life forever.
Alongside the “well-crafted script, and elegant stage craft” (Plank Magazine) the driving soundtrack, provided by a talented live band, transports the audience straight into the tumult of the Vietnam era. Gadfly is “thought provoking and deals with conflicts that are still relevant today” (The Charlebois Post), capturing the struggle, political turmoil and music of 1960s America.
This “flawless” (Vue Weekly) historical drama and romantic coming of age story, will be coming to Goshen College's Umble Centre, Friday, October 4th at 8pm & Saturday, October 5th at 4pm as part of the College's homecoming festivities. All are invited to attend. Tickets are $10 or $5 for Students/Seniors.
Not only is this story returning home to Goshen for the first time, but the cast will be joined by special guest, Sam Steiner who will lead a post show Q&A following each performance.
