How to Apply
The steps to a successful application
Submit an OUAC Application
Full-time students will apply through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC), which processes applications to each of Ontario's universities.
Ontario high school students should use the OUAC 101 application.
All other students should use the OUAC 105 application.
Complete the Admission Information Form (AIF)
Students can create an account in Quest, our online student information system. Once they have a Quest account, they can log in and complete the questions before the AIF deadline.
- Students can watch videos about how to complete their AIF.
- Step-by-step screen shots can also walk them through the process.
- Tip: Be sure that students click save and submit on each page when completing their form in Quest
Online Video Interview (Optional)
Students will receive an email inviting them to participate in the video interview within 3 weeks of applying. They will be asked a question, given prep time, and allotted a set amount of time to respond. It should take no more than 5 minutes to complete and practice sessions are available. Students will require an Internet-connected computer with a functioning webcam and microphone.
Important Dates
Ontario secondary school students
If you’re an Ontario high school student and you confirm an offer from another Ontario university before you receive ours, you still have until June 1, 2023 to amend your decision and accept a later offer, without penalty. No Ontario University can require a financial commitment from you before June 1, 2023 - this is the earliest date Ontario universities may require a response to an offer of admission and a financial commitment of any kind (ie: registration deposit, residence deposit, etc.)
If you receive an offer from a university outside Ontario with an earlier deadline, please inform us by contacting Engineering Admissions.
All other applicants
Applicants not currently attending an Ontario high school have until June 1, 2023 to respond to an offer from Waterloo. Other universities (outside Ontario) may require you to make a financial commitment to them prior to this date, so read your offers of admission carefully before accepting.
