The rank within the cohort of each full-time, full-load student is established based on the Term Average for the academic term, which in turn is based on grades at the standings and official grades date listed in the important dates for current undergraduate students. Students that do not have a term average as of the official grades date are not ranked.
Ranking information is available on a secure website to ranked students at some point in the term (ideally within three weeks of the official graded date). There are two exceptions:
- Software Engineering students receive their decile rather than their rank.
- At the request of the departments, fourth-year ranks are not distributed. However, if a student is applying to graduate school, a faculty member completing a recommendation letter has access to the rank through the undergraduate office in that department. The faculty member can provide the interpretation of a fourth-year rank.
