Engineering Faculty Assembly & Indigenous Peoples Day

Indigenous peoples day image

Dear Faculty & Staff,

On June 21st we have a unique opportunity for learning about the traditions, culture and history of the Haudenosaunee as part of the National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Our Elder-In-Residence William Woodworth (Elder Bill) will guide us through Haudenosaunee traditions for assembly as we conduct our annual Engineering Faculty Assembly (EFA).

We will begin the day with a Thanksgiving Address, then conduct our EFA, and following the Haudenosaunee traditions, will conclude with a feast. All the details are provided below. You can register for any or all of the activities that day, but please note, you must register in advance to attend the feast. Walk-in's cannot be accommodated at the luncheon.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity for all of us to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. I invite you to be part of our Faculty assembly and participate in new learnings about traditions that have been taking place on these lands for centuries.

I hope you will be part of this very special day,

Mary Wells
Dean of Engineering
