Ski lift at Osler Bluff Ski Club

Waterloo Engineering and Waterloo Architecture alumni, join us and your fellow classmates for the annual Waterloo Engineering and Science Alumni Ski Day, at Osler Bluff Ski Club, a beautiful private resort near Collingwood. The Faculty of Science will be joining Ski Day so come to ski or snowboard with engineering, architecture and science classmates and make it a fun day on the hills to make the most of our beautiful Canadian winter.

Lift ticket pricing for 2023:

FULL DAY - 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Adult: $100
Student: $80 (w/ student id)
Youth 7-12: $70
Child 4-6: $60
Toddler: Free (3 and under)

HALF DAY - 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Adult: $75
Student: $60 (w/ student id)
Youth 7-12: $50
Child 4-6: $40
Toddler: Free (3 and under)

The Orchard Lodge - Our Home Base

Our home base for ski day is The Orchard Lodge! This is where you can pick up your lift tickets, mix and mingle with classmates, warm up by the wood fireplace, access facilities, eat snacks or a meal (cash bar available), and store your gear.

The Cafe in the Orchard Lodge will be open all day for you to purchase breakfast, lunch and snacks at your leisure. Lunch seatings will be assigned when you arrive to avoid long lineups. 

Brown Bagging is allowed in The Orchard Lodge so feel free to bring your own lunch.

Optional Lessons

Arrangements for skiing or snowboarding lessons - group or private - must be made at least 10 days in advance. Please make you lesson arrangements directly with the Snow School at Osler Bluff Ski Club at 705-445-4507 ext. 231, email or complete the online request form. Snow School hours are Wednesday through Sunday 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Please note, staff does not have access to email or voice mail on Mondays and Tuesdays as the Club is closed.

If you have never skied before, a complimentary first time lesson is available at 10:30 am (one hour in length) at the J-Bar but pre-registration is required. If you choose to access this lesson, please contact the Snow School at Osler Bluff Ski Club at 705-445-4507 ext. 221, email or complete the online request form.

Equipment Rental

Visit Squire John's to book your ski or snowboard equipment online - and fill in your information under "New rental for this event?" option #3. Equipment rentals must be reserved by Friday, January 13, 2023. Equipment cannot be rented the day of the event if it is not reserved by the deadline.

Each guest is responsible for paying for their own rental equipment - see the equipment rentals and rates (PDF) for prices on the various pieces of equipment or packages. When booking equipment online, please use the date "Friday, January 20, 2023", location "Osler Bluff Ski Club" and group name "University of Waterloo Alumni Ski Day".

8:30 a.m. Lift tickets can be picked up at the Registration Table inside Orchard Lodge on the upper level.
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Lifts are open. Stay warm!
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Food options: 

  • The Orchard Lodge Cafe will be open all day for you to purchase breakfast, lunch and snacks at your leisure. To avoid long lineups at peak times, lunch seatings from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be assigned when you check-in at the registration table. Cash bar available.
  • Brown bagging is allowed in The Orchard Lodge so feel free to bring your own lunch.
12:30 p.m. Half-day lift tickets can be picked up from the ticket window inside Orchard Lodge on the lower level.
1:45 p.m. Group photo at the Orchard Lodge outdoor patio.
2:00 -2:45 p.m. Fun Timed Run begins. Sign-up in the morning and meet at the top of the Exhibition run to start your timed runs. Helmet required. 
4:00 p.m. Lifts close
4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Après Ski reception in Orchard Lodge where door prizes will be awarded and complimentary snacks will be served. Cash bar available.

Snowshoeing

If you do not ski or snowboard, please join us for some snowshoeing! Snowshoeing is a growing sport and an excellent opportunity for non-skiing guests to enjoy the great outdoors. Snowshoeing trail maps may be picked up at the Club ticket office prior to setting out on the trail. It is strongly suggested that showshoing participants carry a cell phone for communication while they are out on the trail. Although the Snowshoe trails are not patrolled by the Club’s Ski Patrol, the trails are well marked to make certain guest safety has been considered. Please be advised that downloading passengers on the chairlifts is not permitted at any time.
