Waterloo Engineering students and alumni are invited to participate in an exclusive virtual Office Hour with Waterloo Engineering alumnus Rob Otway (BASc 1985, Civil Engineering), Executive Vice President Buildings West at Bird Construction, who will discuss “Follow Your Own Path”.

During this Office Hour, Rob Otway will talk about his career journey from his time earning his BASc at the University of Waterloo to where he is now Executive Vice President at Bird Construction. Rob will take participants down his unique career path, the twists and turns along the way and the life and career lessons he learned by failing often. Biography

Rob Otway is a professional engineer who has devoted 36 years to the construction industry. In his role as Executive Vice President for Bird Construction, Rob is responsible for all buildings and special project operations within British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. Previously, he spent 25 years with PCL Construction in various executive and project management positions, including executive oversight of PCLs corporate sustainability strategy. Rob graduated from the University of Waterloo (BASc 1985) and is a recent graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) Directors Education Program.
