Sam Altman (DEng 2017) is a serial entrepreneur, investor and programmer, and he is currently the co-chairman and CEO of OpenAI, a research company that is focused on advancing digital intelligence to benefit humanity as a whole. Prior to OpenAI, he served as the CEO of Y Combinator from 2014 to 2019, and then as partner from 2011 to 2014. At a young age of 19, in 2005 he co-founded Loopt, a location-based social networking mobile application which he sold in 2012.

Eric Migicovsky (BASc 2009) is an entrepreneur and engineer, and he is currently partner at YCombinator. He co-founded Pebble in 2012, which became the most successful project in Kickstarter's history and was then acquired by Fitbit in 2016. The Pebble smartwatch came out of an idea Migicovsky had with a group of friends while studying engineering at the University of Waterloo in 2008.
