Do you love reading and have an interest in connecting with your fellow classmates? Join the discussion at the Waterloo Engineering Recent Alumni Book Club event. This will be great opportunity for you to discuss leadership and share insights with your peers, those who graduated over the last decade, and Waterloo Engineering alumni leaders.
The book selected for reading and discussion is “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead” by Sheryl Sandberg. In “Lean In”, Sandberg examines why women’s progress in achieving leadership roles has stalled, explains the root causes, and offers compelling, commonsense solutions that can empower women to achieve their full potential. Pick up the book at your local bookshop, on amazon.ca, on audible.ca, or watch the Ted Talk on YouTube today.
If you identify as a woman, it’s critical to understand what barriers you may encounter and the proven tactics you can use to overcome them. As an ally, it’s your job to actively call out bias when you see it and fight to break the mold.
Please read the book or the listen to the audiobook or Ted Talk, note or save your favorite quotes by early May, and then participate in small group discussions on the day of the event. Register online to join the conversation!
Virtual Zoom meeting format: Short introduction by discussion leaders, then break out into groups to talk about favorite quotes, learnings, and inspiration.
Those who register for the event will be sent the Zoom link for the discussion event.
