Please answer the following questions:

  • Application of one engineering discipline’s techniques in the problem domain of another engineering discipline
    • e.g., application of ECE techniques in a Civil Engineering problem domain: computer vision for pothole detection
    • e.g., application of Civil Engineering structural analysis in a biomedical domain
  • Application of engineering techniques in another interesting domain
    • e.g., application of engineering techniques to patient scheduling at a hospital
  • Combination of multiple engineering techniques in a unified system
    • e.g., a new liquid oxygen rocket engine for the UW Rocketry Design Team (chemical, electrical, mechanical)
  • Engineering project that requires interdisciplinary engagement to be successful
    • Perhaps requires significant thought and design about regulatory, legal, cultural, environmental, and other aspects.
