A total of 112 Engineering student-athletes were among the 444 Warriors varsity team members named to the 2023-24 President's Academic Honour Roll. This recognition celebrates student-athletes who maintain an average of 80 percent or higher while competing at the varsity level.
The President’s Academic Breakfast, held at Federation Hall, showcased the University of Waterloo's commitment to excellence both on and off the field. An impressive 56.13 percent of all student-athletes earned the distinction this year, highlighting Waterloo’s reputation as a leader in fostering Academic All-Canadians.
At the top of the Honour Roll was Adam Huras, a fourth-year Mechatronics Engineering student, who achieved a remarkable 98.2 percent average. A dual-sport athlete and captain of the Cross Country team, Huras also competes on the Track & Field team. His exceptional accomplishments earned him the top male undergraduate award and the Fairfax Financial Award.
Mary Wells, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, praised the honourees for their dedication and balance. “Pursuing excellence in athletics and academics demonstrates the incredible versatility of our students. This achievement reflects not just hard work but also the resilience and commitment needed to succeed beyond the classroom. Congratulations to all 112 Engineering student-athletes who have excelled on both fronts.”
