A financial technology company founded by two former classmates at Waterloo Engineering has secured US $6 million in backing to help launch a platform to fight fraud by enabling secure, real-time collaboration among merchants, banks and service providers.

Tuhk Inc. was founded in 2025 by Andre Edelbrock and Trevor Clarke (both BASc ’98, systems design engineering) to turn fragmented data into a cohesive intelligence network to neutralize fraud, maximize transaction approvals, reduce chargebacks and streamline dispute resolution.

The seed funding from FINTOP, Lloyds Banking Group and Capital One Ventures will be used to fuel Tuhk's imminent launch in the UK, the US, and Canada alongside major banks and merchants.

“Their investment reflects shared confidence in our approach and provides valuable strategic guidance as we advance our work together,” Edelbrock, the Toronto-based company’s CEO, said in a media release.

“With these resources, we look forward to expanding the platform's reach and delivering practical, scalable solutions that strengthen the global payments ecosystem."
