A civil and environmental engineering Capstone Design team captured third place at the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) Annual Congress held in London, ON.

The team called Four Flags Amusement, comprised of students James St.Onge, Stephen Phillips, Peter Loudfoot, and Graeme Milligan, won for their Flying-Wing Roller Coaster Design project.  The students were selected to represent Waterloo out of 39 Capstone civil and environmental engineering design teams.

Earlier in the year, the department’s undergraduate student chapter produced a winning annual report for the CSCE.

The CSCE Student Affairs Committee evaluated final annual reports (2015-2016) from 24 schools and awarded Waterloo the Most Improved Student Chapter.

The committee emphasized the importance of continuing to grow the chapter and improve on the quality of its activities and participation, particularly in the areas of developing programs to further increase membership, and developing special projects with engineering content that  benefit individuals outside the chapter membership.
