ECE faculty and students win a top IBM conference award

Members of Waterloo Engineering's  Software Technologies Applied Research (STAR) laboratory were honoured with one of the Best Technology Showcase Awards at CASCON 2013, the International Conference hosted by the Centre for Advanced Studies Research, IBM Canada Software Laboratory. The conference was held November 18-20 in Toronto.

The award for StratusML: A Layered Cloud Applications Modeling Language was won by Mohammad Hamdaqa, an electrical and computer engineering doctoral candidate Ladan Tahvildari, an electrical and computer engineering professor, and Mohamed Mustafa, a department co-op student. StratusML is sophisticated integrated modeling framework for cloud applications that provides an intuitive user interface with multiple  features and applications.

Located in the electrical and computer engineering department, the STAR lab's main objective is to design and implement new methodologies and tools to develop high-quality, cost-effective software systems.
