Waterloo Engineering remains the top engineering school in Canada in terms of program reputation, according to annual rankings released by Maclean’s magazine for 2022.

Overall, based on survey responses from more than 1,200 faculty members and senior administrators across the country, Waterloo slipped slightly to second place based on both program reputation and research reputation. It tied for the top overall spot last year.

The University of Toronto tied with Waterloo in first place for program reputation and edged Waterloo for first overall based on both measures this year. Waterloo tied for second with McGill University in research reputation.

McGill, the University of British Columbia and Alberta rounded out the top 5 in the magazine’s overall reputational rankings of engineering schools.

Campus-wide, the University of Waterloo reclaimed top spot as the most innovative university in Canada, a category it has dominated for three decades.
