Engineering students earn global leadership fellowships

Tuesday, February 11, 2025

Three Waterloo Engineering students have earned a national fellowship that supports global leadership and entrepreneurship.

Mechatronics Engineering student Beaumont Qu and Software Engineering students Barton Lu and Steven Yang were selected for the 2025 Cansbridge Fellowship, a competitive program that provides hands-on international experience through internships in Asia.

Only 15 students across Canada are accepted into the fellowship each year, which includes a $10,000 scholarship, an intensive onboarding process, and a fully funded bootcamp in Montreal before their internships begin.

Fellows gain access to a lifelong network of mentors, innovators, and industry leaders, equipping them with the skills and connections to drive meaningful change.
