Grad student lands spot in commercialization program

A graduate student at Waterloo Engineering has been accepted into a national-level research commercialization program based in Toronto.

Christian Mele, who is working on a master’s degree in mechanical and mechatronics engineering, was named to the summer 2021 cohort of Lab2Market to pursue a project on a wearable sensor matrix for the detection and prevention of pressure ulcers.

Participants in the program, which is led by Ryerson University, Dalhousie University and Memorial University, receive mentorship, hands-on support and $15,000 in funding.
