U of A's Alumni Association's most prestigious award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of alumni who have earned national or international prominence as a result of their outstanding professional achievements and/or service to society.
Haas is being honoured for his nationally and internationally recognized pavement research and infrastructure management. He'll be presented with his award on September 18 at U of A.
The recipient of some of the top honours in his profession, Haas is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Engineering Institute of Canada and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is the only academic to have been named an honorary life member of the Transportation Association of Canada. In 2008, he was named a member of the Order of Canada.
