Dr. Alexander Wong has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (commonly known as the Royal Society of Arts, or RSA). Wong is a Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, medical imaging, autonomous vehicles and smart infrastructure.
Founded in 1754, the RSA is one of the oldest learned societies in the world comprised of "entrepreneurs, educators and innovators working together for the advancement of society, the economy and the environment." Their mission is to "embolden enterprise, enlarge science, refine art, improve our manufacturers and extend our commerce". Notable fellows include Marie Curie, Tim Berners-Lee and Nelson Mandela.
Dr. Wong is the former Canada Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, Member of the College of the Royal Society of Canada and co-director of the Vision and Image Processing Lab.
