A professor at Waterloo Engineering has been named a fellow of an international organization that fosters leadership and collaboration among leading environmental researchers.
Nandita Basu, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, and earth and environmental sciences, is one of 21 sustainability scientists selected from across North America for the 2021 cohort of the Earth Leadership Program (ELP).
"This year's selection of fellows consists of leading environmental champions from a broad range of disciplines and institutions across North America," Sharon Collinge, executive director of the program, said in a media release.
"We look forward to working with each of them to accelerate and deepen the science that will promote equitable transitions to sustainability, both in their home countries and around the world."
Basu, director of the Collaborative Water Program at Waterloo, is primarily concerned in her research with sustainable management of water resources.
ELP is a partnership involving international research program Future Earth, the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, and the University of Colorado Boulder.
