Five professors from Waterloo Engineering were named among the most influential researchers worldwide for their citation impact, according to the 2025 Highly Cited Researchers list from Clarivate.
The recognition highlights global research leaders whose work continues to advance knowledge and drive innovation across disciplines.
This year’s Engineering honourees include Dr. Michael Fowler, Canada Research Chair in zero-emission vehicles and hydrogen energy systems; Dr. Roydon Fraser, professor and Teaching Chair in mechanical and mechatronics engineering; Dr. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen, professor in electrical and computer engineering; Dr. Aiping Yu, professor of chemical engineering and director of the Carbon Nanotechnology Laboratory; and Dr. Weihua Zhuang, professor in electrical and computer engineering and University Research Chair. Their research spans hydrogen energy systems, advanced powertrains, wireless communication networks, high energy storage materials and next-generation network architecture.
