Distinguished Teacher Award winner

Jeff West, associate professor and associate chair of undergraduate studies in the department of civil and environmental engineering will receive one of the 2015 Distinguished Teacher Awards.

Since joining the University of Waterloo in 2002, West has supervised 18 graduate students, and his student teaching evaluations have always been outstanding. West is recognized as one of the top instructors in his department by excelling in leadership and mentoring, course design and delivery, in addition to leadership in curriculum renewal. 

Distinguished Teacher Awards are presented to faculty members at convocation in recognition of teaching excellence. 

Amit and Meena Chakma Award for Exceptional Teaching by a Student (AETS) winner

Mostafa Farrokhabadi, a PhD student with the department of electrical and computer engineering is one of three students on campus to receive the 2015 Amit and Meena Chakma Award for Exceptional Teaching by a Student.

Students acknowledge his guidance, adaptability and teaching methods as a teaching assistant (TA) for ECE 390 and ECE 467. Known for going above and beyond to explain lecture material, both students and the course instructors noted his dedication and passion for teaching. 

Award winners will be recognized during spring convocation ceremonies.
