Waterloo Engineering students excelled at Ontario’s top student engineering competition last weekend, earning multiple top-three finishes.
Held at McMaster University, the Ontario Engineering Competition featured 40 Waterloo undergraduates who showcased their problem-solving and design skills across nine categories.
In the Innovative Design category, students Melda Kiziltan, Ethan Kim, Ridham Goyal and Shaheer Rana took first place, while Olivia Graham, Josh Bell, Belle Shin and Sally Yang finished second.
Priyanka Chakravati and Jenny Hui placed second in the Consulting category, while Michael Zeliznak, Emily Di Lauro, Greg Schneider and Beaumont Qu finished second in the Junior Design category. The team of Daniel Ye, Sahil Kale, Aaron Spoelstra and Daniel Puratich also secured second place in the Senior Design category.
Additional podium finishes included third-place results for Sean D’Melo and Thomas Lis in the Debate category, and Omkaar Kamath and Omar Atwa in the Re-Engineering and the Bio-Engineering categories.
Teams that places first or second will advance to compete at the Canadian Engineering Competition, hosted by Dalhousie University in mid-March.
