Waterloo honours the legacy of Professor Wayne Chang

A respected teacher and mentor is being remembered for his profound impact on generations of Waterloo students and founders.

Dr. Wayne Chang, associate professor at the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business and coordinator of the Enterprise Co-op (E Co-op) program, passed away suddenly on October 30, 2025. Known for his optimism, creativity and compassion, Chang fostered a culture of collaboration and confidence that continues to shape the Faculty.

A proud Waterloo alum (BSc '87, Physics), Chang joined the Conrad School in 2012 after completing graduate studies at Western University. He earned the Distinguished Teacher Award in 2018 for his dedication to experiential learning and mentorship. His leadership in E Co-op helped hundreds of student ventures launch and thrive.
