Hundreds of students at Waterloo Engineering will explore new ways to apply a voice-activated virtual assistant system under a program backed by Amazon.
Announced today, the Alexa Fund Fellowship provides support for instruction and supervision of student design projects in the exploding field of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Alexa is a cloud-based service that uses natural speech recognition technology to process queries and commands from users, then performs requested tasks including the control of smart home devices and appliances.
