Eligibility criteria

To be endorsed for the engineering exchange program, you must:

  1. Meet the academic requirements below.
  2. Be up to date with the requirements of your plan and the other relevant sections of the undergraduate academic calendar.
  3. Have a good record with respect to conduct and academic integrity.

You are expected to continue to meet these requirements and have an approved study plan prior to departure. If the department deems you are no longer eligible for exchange at any time prior to departure, they can withdraw your endorsement and your exchange will be cancelled.

Academic requirements

  • Cumulative average of 80.0 or a term average of 80.0 in each of the two most recently completed academic terms.
    • The following programs [CHE, CIVE, AE, ENVE, GEOE] will consider students with cumulative average of 75.0. Exceptions can be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Successful completion of at least 2B term before departure.
  • All failed or dropped courses must be passed prior to leaving for exchange.
  • Approved plan to satisfy your co-op requirements prior to your 4B term.
  • Meet language requirements if the primary language of instruction at the partner institution is not English.

Notes

  • Programs may limit the number of exchange students endorsed from each class.
  • It is not always possible for students to complete all required courses and electives during their exchange term. Students may require taking additional courses on academic and/or coop terms. In some cases, students may require an additional academic term to complete degree requirements.
  • Within the Faculty of Engineering, letters of permission cannot be used to replace an entire academic term or in place of an exchange agreement.
