GIVE STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEEPEN THEIR UNDERSTANDING

“Being able to engage in critical scholarship has enriched my understanding of the Bible, its worldview, and how I live the Gospel in the modern world,” said Devan, a Master of Theological Studies student.

He is especially appreciative of the scholarships that have allowed him to immerse himself in his studies without worrying about financial constraints. “This has allowed me to engage more fully in academic and community life in the MTS program and discern my future vocation.”

I am very fortunate to be part of a caring and generous community that chooses to support those of us who struggle with finances to pay for higher education. The scholarships from Grebel have made it possible for me to be in the MTS program. I believe that it is important for me as a leader in my faith community to gain knowledge in Biblical studies so that I can use it help first myself and then others grow in our faith. I think that the MTS program has equipped me to be a better leader.

MOLLEE MOUA, Master of Theological Studies

After years of encountering challenging, powerful, and revolutionary ideas about the problems in the world and the ways of thinking required to address them, I'm finally getting the chance to sit down, study, discuss, and imagine how these all connect together. Grebel is connecting me with classmates who share what they know, challenge my conclusions, and join the dots between faith, theory, and practice. And I cant wait to see what happens when we get together in person!

Rebecca Booker

“When I began studying at Grebel, I had been working in Kitchener-Waterloo for several years as a freelance pianist and a church musician. I sensed that I had more to offer my faith community. My hope is that the Master of Theological Studies will help me to develop my calling as a worship pastor, while continuing to serve the wider community as a musician. I have already seen much fruit, both in my ministry and in my personal life, as a result of my coursework, my supervised ministry experience, and my participation in the Grebel community. This term is different and challenging, but I sincerely hope that in the future I will be able to draw from a deeper well of wisdom and compassion because of the hard lessons that we are learning together during this pandemic.”
