A website showcasing 80,000 photographs of Mennonite life was shortlisted for the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Community Programming. The Mennonite Archival Image Database (MAID) is a partnership of eight Mennonite archives.
Theology Professor Jeremy Bergen will present the Fall 2016 Benjamin Eby Lecture at Conrad Grebel University College on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 7:30pm in the Chapel. Bergen will speak about “Christians Killing Christians: Martyrdom and the Disunity of the Church.”
The Music Department at Conrad Grebel University College is warming up for a full day of musical immersion with 275 high school students from across Waterloo Region. Choral Day, taking place on Friday, October 21, is orchestrated by the University of Waterloo’s Music Department at Grebel and brings together grade 11 and 12 vocal music students and school choir members.
The appointment of Susan Schultz Huxman at Conrad Grebel University College in 2011 represented the first time a second generation family member served as president of a Mennonite College. Harold Schultz, Huxman’s father, served as president at Bethel College in Kansas for 20 years, 1971–1991.
A presidential search process for Conrad Grebel University College is well underway to replace Susan Schultz Huxman who was recruited to serve as president at Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia. Jim Pankratz began his role as interim president following the annual general meeting on October 1, 2016 and will serve until a successful candidate is in place.
WATERLOO, ON — Do youth have the tools they need to solve their conflicts and seek justice? On September 20, educators, parents, youth, and community members gathered to launch The Ripple Effect Education (TREE), a peace education initiative that will integrate conflict resolution and social justice concepts into social studies curriculum in elementary school classrooms.
President Susan Schultz Huxman has announced that Jane Kuepfer was named the Schlegel Specialist in Spirituality and Aging, a joint half time position between Conrad Grebel University College and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA) at the University of Waterloo.
As an important part of Conrad Grebel University College’s mission to serve church and society, the College offers numerous opportunities for community education. In addition to its academic programs, public lectures, and research, Grebel hosts two children’s camps each summer: Peace Camp and Ontario Mennonite Music Camp. Building on the College’s signature programs of peace and music, Grebel works with community partners and volunteer leaders to create opportunities for children to learn peace building skills and to stretch their musical abilities.
