Our Calling in the “Age of Precarity”

“It’s 2038 and Grebel is thriving. What is it best known for? What is it doing that matters most? What difference is Grebel making? What is the same and what looks different? What are the most significant challenges we will face?”

Building Peace in Hiroshima

An initiative of Hiroshima University, the University Presidents for Peace conference gathered university administrators and scholars from six continents. The goal is to build a network of universities committed to “peace and sustainability through collaborative education and research.”

Crafting a Shared Narrative

Carrie Snyder (BA 1997) has spent her career telling stories. In recent years, she has also used her skills to help immigrant and refugee women in Waterloo tell their own stories through The X Page. This work, along with her career as a writer and teacher, has earned Carrie Grebel's 2026 Distinguished Alumni Service Award.

Values in Action

Grebel offers opportunities for students to put into practice the values at the heart of the College’s identity and mission. Through community building, compassionate service, and global engagement, students are finding meaningful ways to live out those values.

Grebel faculty build many different types of partnerships that connect their expertise with new perspectives, expand their research, reach across disciplines and borders, create opportunities for students, and bring new ideas and perspectives to their work. The following are just a few examples of the many partnerships Grebel faculty have developed.
