The student diet rarely gets a three star review, unless you consider peanut butter and beer to be gourmet. Students who cook for themselves are often limited by thin slices of time and pretty skinny budgets.
Conrad Grebel University College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Trevor Bechtel to the role of Dean, effective July 1, 2014. He succeeds Jim Pankratz who has served as Dean for 9 years and will be retiring in June.
Timothy Corlis has been appointed as Assistant Professor of Music at Conrad Grebel University College, beginning August 1, 2014. He will focus his teaching on Music Theory, stepping in after Professor Carol Ann Weaver retires in June, having taught at Grebel for 29 years. Conrad Grebel is home to the Music Department at the University of Waterloo.
Grebel is proud to announce that Jacob Winter, 2nd year International Development student, is the 2013 winner of the bi-national C. Henry Smith Oratorical Competition. This friendly contest between Mennonite and Brethren in Christ universities and colleges across Canada and the USA is administered by the Peace and Justice Ministries of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). Jacob won $300 plus a $500 conference scholarship.

This multimedia performance details how a father and son have negotiated the personal and political landscapes of Northern Ireland through photograph and song.
Peace Camp is a place to share stories and learn from one another. It is a place where guest speakers are invited to share their stories of peace and peacebuilding. It is a place where campers from various cultural backgrounds, faiths, and orientations have an opportunity to learn from and share their stories with each other.
Conrad Grebel University College will confer its first honorary doctorate to John Paul Lederach at its Convocation ceremony on April 13, 2014.
Cn 1916, when Berlin, Ontario changed its name to Kitchener, Mennonite diarist Susannah Cressman wrote, “Such is the wisdom of our…town fathers who are making [military contract] money out of it.” That same year preacher U. K. Weber persuaded his congregation to adopt the name “First Mennonite Church” to avoid naming the church after “warlord” Kitchener. In 1918, Mennonite conscientious objector Joseph Smith worried that he would be court-martialed.
On Sunday, Feb. 2, at 11:00 AM, the Grebel Gamelan will be playing at Rockway Mennonite Church, 32 Weber Street West in Kitchener. This is a Balinese gamelan directed by UW/Grebel Ethnomusicology professor Maisie Sum and professional Balinese gamelan player Dewa Made Suparta, with Grebel players.
