Conrad Grebel University College’s third annual Peace Camp is a memorable and meaningful summer camp option for youth aged 11-14. This week long day camp, starting on July 29^th, is action-packed with exciting new activities, crafts, games, and field trips that will encourage youth to inspire lives, strengthen ties, and make peace happen all over the Waterloo region.

WATERLOO, ON -- Susan Schultz Huxman, President of Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Vuorinen as faculty member in Choral Music.

The Alumni Committee of Conrad Grebel University College is pleased to announce the selection of Andrew Reesor-McDowell  (BA 1976) as this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award.

WATERLOO, ON -- As a University of Waterloo Engineering graduate and a Conrad Grebel University College alumnus, Edward Penner (’86) and his wife Judy wanted to develop an award that recognized both areas. “Waterloo is a university with a great Engineering program and this will provide support for someone pursuing such a future. Grebel is also a great place, with a unique and positive culture,” reflected Penner. “This award recognizes a student who contributes to Grebel, continuing to foster the great culture we all value.

Conrad Grebel University College is pleased to welcome Professor Alicia Batten as an Associate Professor of New Testament, beginning July 1^st, 2013. She is currently Chair of Religious Studies at the University of Sudbury – a federated university of Laurentian University – and has significant teaching and administrative experience. 

Global engagement is one of the core values and priorities of Conrad Grebel University College and the University of Waterloo.  Dr. Maisie Sum has been appointed to a new faculty position in Global Music to expand and explore the study and performance of "world music" in the Music program.

PARAGUAY PRIMEVAL by Carol Ann Weaver is a musical work featuring stories of Mennonites who fled to Paraguay from Russian and Canada in the 1920s and beyond.  This January 2013 Manitoba tour takes this music to some of the very people who were born in Paraguay but have moved back to Canada.  It is the hope that their stories will be thus celebrated.

The Alumni Committee of Conrad Grebel University College is pleased to announce the selection of Larry Willms as this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Service award. Larry provides an inspirational example of following an interesting life path. "He provides Grebel graduates with a prime example of how one can follow their passions and use their education to make a difference not only in their own back yard but in the broader community and around the world. This type of intentional living fits well with Grebel’s mission to seek wisdom, nurture faith, and pursue justice and peace in service to church and society," said Wendy Cressman Zehr, Alumni Committee Chair.

A lifetime of persistent and meticulous research into the lives and family histories of Amish Mennonites has been donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario at Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo. Lorraine Roth first became intrigued with genealogy as a teenager in the 1940s, and spent the ensuing decades reading and corresponding widely. She even travelled to Europe to unearth archival documents and taught herself to read old German script.
