Outreach and Diversity

Engineering Outreach exists to engage young people in the world of science and engineering, by igniting their natural curiosity and cultivating a commitment to lifelong learning, discovery and invention.  We do this by offering high-quality programming that:

  • demonstrate theories and principles through hands-on activities

  • are developed and delivered by current university students who are eager to share their passion

  • builds on over 25 years of experience

We offer various programs that are designed for youth in grades 1 to 12.  We also offer programming that focuses on groups that are currently under-represented in engineering and science. There are many opportunities to get involved and many of our programs rely on amazing volunteers!

Engineering EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to create a community that:

  • celebrates differences

  • ensures members feel safe to interact with one another and bring their full, authentic self (intellectual, physical, emotional, etc.) to campus/class/research facilities or any situation they may experience within the Faculty of Engineering

  • acknowledges that differences and mistakes can be resolved in respectful conversations that promote understanding

  • empowers members to make impactful changes happen, both on campus and beyond.

Engineering EDI works in alignment with the University of Waterloo’s Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism. We strive to develop and amplify events/initiatives that support and bolster equity and inclusivity on campus.
