On March 7th, 2022, at 12:00 pm EDT, a virtual seminar on the topic of the Canadian Engineering Grand Challenges (CEGC) will be hosted by the Canadian Academy of Engineering in partnership with National Engineering Month and Engineering Deans Canada. The seminar will be 90-minutes long and will begin with presentations by speakers Dr. Kevin Deluzio, Dr. Jim Nicell, Dr. Mary Wells and Mr. Bruce Taylor. After the presentations, there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask the speaker questions. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with all speakers, which will be moderated by Dr. Claude Laguë.

This panel will focus on how the CEGCs came to be chosen as the lens through which Canadian engineering should view the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and what the CEGCs mean for education, research, and engineering practice in Canada. It will also discuss the role that current and future engineers and researchers will play in achieving these goals while contributing to the overarching task of climate change adaptation and mitigation.
