Canada changed forever on December 6, 1989 when 14 young women were murdered in a gender-based act of violence at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal.

On December 6 the University of Waterloo, in partnership with the Canadian Federation of University Women Kitchener-Waterloo, will host an annual ceremony of remembrance to honour the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

On behalf of Vivek Goel, President and Vice-Chancellor and Mary Wells, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, join us in person or online as we come together to reflect on and honour the lives of 14 young women, and take action against gender-based violence faced by those who identify as women.

If you are unable to attend in-person, we invite you to view the livestream of the ceremony.

If you have any questions, please contact community.relations@uwaterloo.ca
